Inspiring People: Ron Finley – Guerilla Gardener

Ron Finley is a Guerilla Gardener. He is spreading the word on how to be a modern gangster, LA Style, for all those people wanting to be hip and cool, he suggests a shovel and planting seeds as ‘weapons’ of choice.

It’s hard not to be infected by his passion and we loved that he has no desire to sit around and talk about it. If you want to meet him you need bring a shovel. He is desire in action.

LA has an equivalent of 20 Central Parks in government owned land (like grass verges and ‘lots’) that could be created into a massive food forest, Ron and his mates are doing exactly that one verge at a time.

Costa Gorgiadis from Gardening Australia (ABC) has a similar idea and has created a veggie patch verge to show how it is done. You can check out ‘On The Verge’ Costa’s community garden project on google if you are interested.

It highlights the fact that we think we need to own land to grow food, when there is already so much land waiting for someone to love it!

There are so many possibilities EVERYWHERE!!!

Inspiring People: Sebastião & Leila Salgado

Pete found this interview on YouTube with Sebastião Salgado who is a man with a great story which he is living each day with his wife Leila.

He grew up on his families farm in Brazil that was a 50% rain forested property when he was a child, to a less than 1/2% barren, cattle grazing property that he inherited in later life. Leila suggested they grow the rainforest again when they moved back their. This is their story and link to their own website Instituto Terra (press here).

How Cool is Fungi

Pete found this Ted Talk today and we thought you might be interested – it’s about fungi.

We love the living systems that Jesus introduced us to a couple of years ago. We watched the above talk and we understood more of what Jesus was teaching us about the intelligent life in the soil, air, atmosphere and fungi. Living systems are a great catalyst for re-igniting and re-invigorating fungus which creates mycelium, back into the landscape.

Who knows one day you might have an old growth forest in your own back yard.

We don’t agree with or promote everything in this talk, but there is some awesome insights into the power and importance of fungus, including some great experimentation and research Paul Stamets has done.

Paul Stamets has some books on growing fungi if you are interested in this awesome intelligent organism.  A couple of titles are: ‘Growing Gourmet and Medicinal Mushrooms’ and ‘Mycelium Running’).

These are from the ‘impracticallyPRETTY collection’ that I have been working on over the last two months. Finished 20130805

I really love* making footwear, shoes, boots, spats and other foot and leg wear. A friend of mine in the spirit world – Michael** – helps me out. We have a lot of fun exchanging ideas (he usually extends mine and gives me images of things I didn’t even think possible). At the moment it is an experimentation of different ways of doing things and investigating what I like doing. I like that I can make shoes and boots for myself and others and I love trying out all my ideas. Many of my personal projects do not work out the first time but I learn so much in just engaging the process. It seems every pair of shoes or boots so far has something for me to learn within the process.

My dream of making comfy, beautiful, interesting footwear is in the infant stages***. I am looking forward to doing some more experimenting over the next couple of years with various different materials and making techniques. I want to explore fibres grown on the land and harvested and made here also.

At this time the shoes and spats I make are made from all sorts of materials (I am experimenting). They are mostly Vegan and often second hand/recycled/gifted fabrics that I am presently using up. I would like to get to a stage where the shoes I make do not have any toxicity in them at all and are made from totally natural, vegan, recycled, (mostly) plant based sources. (I still love wool, so maybe wool too for a while yet). I love experimenting with fabrics, colours and designs and trying stuff out.

At present the glue I use is toxic and some of the fabric made from petro-chemicals, so the product is not eco-friendly, brings up emotions and poses questions for me about how I can do things differently.

I feel this is a journey, an adventure of discovery and exploration and that I will work out many things as I go along. At the moment I am slowly practicing skills, researching and trialling to see what I like and what wears/works well.

We’ll see what comes of it. I have many ideas and have not made much time to create them into realities yet.

I also love sharing ‘how to’. So if you are interested in learning how to making footwear feel free to contact me (eloisa@kyabra.com) and we will see if we can arrange a short basic course. (Usually these are 3 days or so. I have also done a regular class one evening for people interested in coming along to create and will start this up again in a few months for those who would like to come along who live in the local area.

I have been asked recently by a few people if I make shoes for purchase. If you are genuinely interested please contact me at eloisa@kyabra.com and we can discuss it further.

Below are some images of spats and shoes – more will be added to the footwear gallery page as I complete them. You can find more images in the footwear gallery by pressing on the above link, or going to the footwear tab and under footwear is the footwear gallery.

SPATS:

The model’s legs are little as they are a childs’ that was the only model I had at the time so they look a bit baggy. Spats would usually fit well and go over the tops of shoes.

Footnotes:

*I (Eloisa) love making shoes. I love thinking about shoes. I love designing shoes. I love making patterns for shoes. I really enjoy all aspects of making shoes. I feel there is some passion in me about shoes, smile.

**Michael LOVES shoes and making shoes. He has over 3000 pairs and helps me out a lot! Through him we met another friend who has a passion for shoes, called Melanie. She creates through desire beautiful celestial golden shoes. They live in the Spirit World and what they desire they create instantly. (These beautiful Spirits could inspire me more if I would let them. I look forward to becoming more open and humble in this process and allowing more inspiration from my beautiful friends!)

***I want every pair of shoes I make to be beautiful, individual and a perfect fit for the foot, support the foot and are super duper comfy and lovely to wear! I would also like them to wear well and not ‘die’ prematurely. I would like to make shoes for myself and others and to share the skills I have learnt adding to them as I learn more. (I learn something new with each pair I make so this will be an on-going process).

Regular Events: Environment Day

Creating a Fertility System

Creating a Fertility System

This is a basic outline giving a general overview of what the event Environment Day/days is all about.

We hold regular Environment Days (generally mornings) and they are an open invitation for anyone who would like to come and give to the land.

Peter generally facilitates the Environment Days and each one is a little bit different depending on the projects we are running and what needs doing at the time.
They may include but are not limited to:
  • Putting the Principles of Divine Truth into Action in our environment
  • Tree planting
  • Mulching
  • Water Management Projects
  • Waterless systems
  • Fertility/Living Systems
  • Fauna Boxes (making, placing, renovating)
  • Seed Collection
  • Hole digging
  • Removing Barbed Wire
  • Pond Creation
  • Fauna Projects
  • Flora Projects
  • Experimentation
  • And much more
We Generally meet at the workshop and go out to the site we are working on together. We don’t want lots of vehicles traipsing all over the land so parking is up behind the workshop (big green shed).
We will let you know on the Events page as soon as possible if the day is cancelled for any reason.
The general things to bring are: (for specifics check the Event’s page)
Water bottle with enough water for the day
Snacks (Vegan/vegetarian food only while on the property please)
Work gloves
Own tools -maddock, digging tool of choice

We are also collecting the following and if you have any you would like to donate we would gladly take it off your hands to put into the projects we are doing.

  • We are asking for your old/new/used newspapers and cardboard (or your neighbours if they care to give it to you) that you do not want any more and would be willing to gather and bring along to Kyabra Station, Kentucky, when you come or we can arrange to drop it somewhere central so we can pick it up?
  • If anyone has any old Trampoline Springs (for fauna boxes) that they don’t want. Or if you know of any that others might not want theirs anymore. We would really like them and are happy to pick them up. please let us know if you do have any.
Thank you.
Please contact us if you have any questions.
Email Peter and/or Eloisa at eloisalh@gmail.com or phone 02 67787348.

During some environmental events held here, there may be talks that include discussions about God, the Human Soul and other spiritual matters. However these will not be of long duration and any person can elect to not be present during these sessions.

Regular Events: Prayer Meeting

Susan Facilitates a Prayer Meeting on a Thursday Evening. It is a time to gather as a group and pray for others with the focus being the Prayer for Divine Love. It is usually held here on the property but during the winter months Susan has had a change of venue, see details below:

When:  Thursday evenings
Time: 7pm – 8/8:30pm
Where: Your own home (during winter – in the Orange Room during warmer months)
See Events page for more Details and when venue will be changed in the warmer events.
This will be a regular and on going event that will take place every second Thursday (alternating with the Evening Discussion Group).
Please read & study “The Prayer for Divine Love”  as written by Jesus on 10th October 2005 outlining the emotional processing work essential to progress in Soul development with Divine Love. And the commentary by Jesus on the prayer (press here to go to the link). The actual prayer is up on the Learning Centre blog (go to link above or look under posts). This document can be found on the Divine Truth website and the prayer can be found by going to > what’s new on left side >  navigation > prayer > and you will find it there. (Press the links for the commentary document).

Note from Susan to all those who desire to participate in the Prayer Meeting:

During the winter months Michael and I have decided to stop meetings being held physically at Kyabra but we will continue praying together on Thursday evenings and anyone wishing to do the same from your own home can join us from 7 – 8:30pm.
The cold evenings have instigated this change and we will re-visit coming together at Kyabra again in a few months time. We hope and encourage you to pray daily, moment by moment over and above this weekly opportunity.
I was fortunate enough to talk to Mary Magdalene on a recent visit regarding prayer groups and she pointed out a very valid point to consider when we are praying for others. Her suggestion is that when we are praying for others that we ask God to show us the emotions within us that we have or are holding on to that are contributing to others suffering or situations in the world. We need to develop a sincere desire not only to know what the injuries and errors are within us, but to also feel them and release the cause that created them in the first place. For example when we were praying for the Pope at his inauguration we needed to ask God in that moment to show us the injuries within our selves that are contributing towards untruths being taught in religion. This generally results in tears and self realisation regarding our own part in the creation of the event we are praying for.
The recent Solomon talk (there are 2 parts to this talk, the link is to part 1) is an excellent example of understanding the Prayer for Divine Love and can be recommended for your reflection and understanding.
The focus each Thursday will continue to be connecting to God using the Prayer for Divine Love given by Jesus. It is a time of reflection and prayer for receiving Divine Love. Perhaps you would like to think of a world issue you would like to pray for using the above recommendation and any other people you feel you would like to bring into the circle.
Feel free to email if you so desire with questions, queries or experiences.
Much Love Susan
P.S. I have found knowing the prayer by heart a very valuable source of inspiration and accessible 24/7.  If you do not know the prayer off by heart, it may be worth considering asking yourself what the block is to using it in your every day life without carrying a piece of paper about with you, smile.

Periodic Events: Divine Truth Seminars

GO TO THE MAIN EVENTS PAGE FOR INFORMATION ON DATES AND TIMES
DIVINE TRUTH SEMINARS are a gift that Jesus and Mary give to anyone with a desire to hear the beautiful teachings of Divine Truth and find out ‘how to’ walk The Way to God.
The basics being that there are two types of love – Divine Love which is given as a gift from God when we sincerely ask for it and transforms the soul and Natural Love or the love we can grow in our own souls with our own effort.
There are many more awesome teachings, discoveries, experiments and wonders within these teachings and if you are interested click on the following link to the Divine Truth website to discover more about
a8900-dsc00652
We periodically hold Divine Truth Seminars facilitated by Jesus and/or Mary. We also have been gifted time and resources from the Gods Way of Love Organisation who have run projects here and though the organisation itself has been disbanded at this time we plan to run similar projects under the same principles in the future.
Jesus and Mary give everything they do for free. If you desire to donate to them you can do so by visiting their website and or donating at their events. There is usually a donation box up the back of the venue.
For more information visit www.divinetruth.com or Mary’s blog mary.divinetruth.com

Regular Events: Evening Discussion Group

The Evening Discussion Group is an opportunity to join others in a discussion on the Principles of Divine Truth as presented by Jesus and Mary. It is an opportunity to learn and for personal self reflection on how the Principles of Love and Truth apply to your life and how you can live them day to day. Or to reflect on how much we are lacking living in harmony with the Principles of Divine Truth and investigate (in our own time) the reasons why we choose to do so.

The format of the evening may vary with different facilitators as is their desire.
It may include (but is not limited to) watching, hearing, reading various excerpts of seminar talks given by Jesus and Mary and others on particular issues and to have an opportunity to discuss, learn and apply what we learn in our every day lives practically. An opportunity to discover more Truth, re-visit Truth we may or may not have heard, and encourage one another in living it every day.
There may be some self reflection exercises and/or questions for you to ponder, contemplate and apply before attending the Evening Discussion.
Check out the Events Page for Discussion Group meeting times and dates
